Just saw the news that the Wall Arch collapsed today. A tragedy of the same scale in my mind as the collapse of the Old Man's Face in New Hampshire about 4 years ago. Wall Arch is located along the Devils Garden Trail and was 71 feet tall and about 33 feet wide. It was the 12th largest in size among the major arches inside the Arches National park. It was first reported and named Wall Arch by Lewis McKinney in 1948.
When a friend told me an arch collapsed in Utah, I first feared it may have been the Landscape Arch, which gave in partly a while ago. What a sad day for Utah and for nature lovers everywhere? I know they all have to go someday, but it just saddens me to see it go in my lifetime.
